Nazde Edeer
Producer
I’m a fourth year medical student and am very excited to be a Spring Gala producer this year. I’ve previously been a Technical Director and am always blown away by the diversity of talent in the medical community. Although I don’t have a background in the arts, I have a love for event planning and hope to make this years Gala a memorable one! In my free time I enjoy SCUBA diving around the west coast, running through the trails of Pacific Spirit Park and spending too much time in the UBC pottery studio.
Nancy Duan
Producer
Nancy is a visual artist who has a strong passion for the fine arts and humanities. Spring Gala is her favourite night of the year and she’s honoured to be part of the team that puts it together. The one message she wants to tell everyone is: Don’t be afraid to express yourself!
Andrew Roberts
Artistic Director
I’m finishing my last year of medical school and making my debut on the Spring Gala Team. My background is predominantly in visual arts, but I’m excited to get my feet wet in the world of the performing arts. If I’m not in my shop drafting up some new project or building another piece of furniture I don’t have the space for, odds are you can catch me outside enjoying everything the coast has to offer.
Sophie Carr
Artistic Director
I’m thrilled to be part of the Spring Gala team again this year as an artistic director. I’m a third year VFMP student who loves to dance and admires all other forms of artistic expression. I look forward to another memorable evening celebrating the many artistic talents of the UBC medical community!
Sara Sheikh
Artistic Director
Currently in her first year of medical school, Sara spends her free time either dancing ballet or playing the classical guitar, both integral parts of her life since childhood. She’s beyond excited to be on the Spring Gala team this year serving as one of the art directors and is looking forward to seeing everyone’s hard work and beautiful talents come together to create a wonderful night!
Rachel Cheung
Finance Director
My name is Rachel and I am a 3rd year medical student at VFMP. This is my second year being involved with the Gala Committee as Finance Director. I grew up singing, dancing, and playing the piano, so it is exciting to be a part of organizing a platform for my colleagues to display their artistic and comedic gifts.
Hannah Matheson
Publicity Director
Hannah is very excited to work with Spring Gala this year and help transition the show to an online platform! Growing up in Manitoba, Hannah danced for her entire childhood, eventually completing her Advanced 2 Ballet Exam. A change of heart made her want to pursue academics instead of a professional dance career, and she is grateful and excited to now be a future physician. Having danced for over 18 years, Hannah feels lucky to be able to continue to dance throughout medical school in UBC Medicine’s Terpsichore.
Shadan Ashrafi
Publicity Director
Shadan, a second year at VFMP, is excited to return to the Med Gala team as a Publicity Director. Last year’s Gala was a memorable event for Shadan as she got to enjoy the amazing performances put on by medical students. She looks forward to bringing the medical community together through the visual and performing arts again this year!

My name is Shailee, and I’m currently in my 2nd year at VFMP. Being the sponsorship director, I hope to bring together vital members of our community to unite toward an incredibly worthy cause! Last year, the Spring Gala was one of my most cherished memories so I am really excited to help bring this wonderful event to our community. I grew up dancing and singing, and love to watch other performers share their incredible talent with the world. I’m looking forward to an amazing night of celebrating art!

Hi! My name is Vanessa and I’ll be the Spring Gala Art Show Director this year. I’m very excited to join the team and I look forward to seeing all your beautiful artworks and pieces. I hope to create an interactive experience so that you and the artist can connect through more than just a computer screen.
Bailey Burrell
Technical Director
I'm a second year student at VFMP looking forward to my second Med Gala as a Technical Director. I've been around theatrical performances, concerts and recitals for more than a decade, usually running the show from behind the soundboard. I'm excited to see our med community come together to celebrate some amazing talent!
Derek Chan
Webmaster
My name is Derek and I am a first year medical student at VFMP. I am excited to help bring the Spring Gala to everyone this year in an online format. I am by no means a professional designer nor do I have any formal training, but I do dabble in photography and other creative hobbies. I really enjoy planning events that bring people together and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. When I have a moment to myself, I can be found attempting to find and fix the oil leaks of my project car.
